Thanks to good old fashioned diet and exercise I have managed to whittle my way down into the 130s. I weighed in yesterday morning at 137!!!
It is a little weird, I must admit. I decided to celebrate this achievement with a trip to the old closet to see if there was anything new, actually old, that I might fit back into. I have been eyeing my old size 10s and 11s.
I found a faded size 10 pair of jeans from probably the late 1990s. The jeans were little out of date, style wise, due to the fact that I have not been in the 130s in probably 10 years. I slipped them on and buttoned them up, they fit! They are a little snug. But, not too uncomfortable to wear. Five fewer pounds and I bet they would even be downright cozy on my waistline!
The day Ben and I got married I weighed in at 145 lbs (for some reason that weight stuck in my head).
Other landmark weights I have committed to memory are:
-The day I found out I was pregnant with Sam: 135 lbs. (I was 19 yrs. old)
-My first doctor’s appointment after finding out I was pregnant with Will: 180 lbs. (I was 32 yrs. Old)
-The day I first formally met Ben: 125 lbs. (I was 2? Years old)
-The day Sam was born: 172 lbs. (hrs. before he was born, I was 20 yrs. old)
– The day Will was born: 215 lbs. (hrs. before he was born, I was 33 yrs. old)
-One Late July day at a Ballet Workshop in Walla Walla, WA, summer of 1994: 127lbs. (I was 17 yrs. old)
-Jr. Year of HS, Fall Semi- Formal Dance: 118lbs. (I was 16 yrs. old)
I am sure I could go on and on. It’s kind of sad that those of us with weight issues sometimes take measure of our lives in an assortment of flashbacks where the pounds were either packed on or off. Well, I guess I should not refer to all people with weight issues. But I am sure I am not the only person on the planet that ponders my life in various states of chubbiness.
