figure competition prep. my daily journal

I weighed in at 133 lbs. today.

We’ll probably test my body fat again next Thursday.

I talked to my trainer about carb cycling.

Since I’m still trying to build and lose body fat at the same time I’m not going to go to the typical 3:1 (low carb day:high carb day) ratio.

I’m going to experiment for the next couple of weeks with 3 low carb and 4 high carb days per week. My heavy training days are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. So I’m going to go high carb on those days and low on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

When I begin to cut I will most likely go to the 3:1 ratio.

I never want to lose more than 1 lb. per week so I’ll adjust as necessary.

If you don’t know what carb cycling is, here are a couple of sites that explain it very well:

bodybuilding.com

and

legionathletics.com

The Legion Athletics article includes links to calculators to determine the correct ratios of macronutrients you should consume for your goals.

I’m not going to pretend and try to come off like any of this is simple. It’s definitely a full time hobby. Luckily I happen to love reading and learning about all of it. It completely fascinating to me!

So sad Friday Night Fights is over for the week!
