{185 calories worth of peanut butter & toast}
I had a discussion about peanut butter with Scarlet (my trainer) last summer.
We were talking about my weekend cheat days and I don’t think she really believed I was eating as many calories as I told her I was on those days.
I don’t think she thought I was lying. I think she thought I was miscalculating.
One of my food journal entries from last summer included a peanut butter and Nutella sandwich that had over 1300 calories!
I was like, “Ya, when I make a peanut butter sandwich I use nearly 1/2 cup of peanut butter.”
I know it’s not normal. But, it was the truth for that particular cheat day.
I’ll never forget the look on Scarlet’s face. It was complete horror mixed with bewilderment! As nice as she could, cause we still didn’t know each other very well at the time, she said, “Why would you use that much peanut butter?”
Clearly Scarlet was not afflicted with a binge eating disorder.
The kind of disorder that leads a person to spread an inch thick layer of peanut butter on a slice of bread and lick the knife clean. Then, before putting the peanut butter away, they grab a clean spoon out of the utensil drawer. They dig a heaping spoonful of the peanut butter out of the jar, lick it clean, before finally screwing the lid back on and placing the jar lovingly back onto the pantry shelf.
The person then repeats the entire scenario with Nutella before finally smashing the gooey slices of heaven together and mowing the entire mess down in a matter of minutes.
It’s the flavor, the texture, the decadence!
peanut butter must be carefully measured. I used to really love it too. Now I don’t care about it that much. But nutella I cannot have in the house.
Yep! I measure every single last gram! I’m not too concerned about plain peanut butter (unless it’s paired with Nutella). But, all the new flavors of peanut butter! And, now I’m becoming obsessed with protein peanut butters!
