I’m not going to sit here and rant about the shortcomings of Blogger and the virtues of WordPress. Blogger is great and I still use it for my private kid-blog. Blogger served me well for the last three years here on Julie’s Jazz. The Blogger platform is free, simple, and easy to use. In fact, I’ve never had much trouble with it at all.
But, the WordPress platform hosts a laundry list of plugins and widgets that I want to incorporate into my blog, and that’s the bottom line. The WordPress possibilities are pretty much endless.
So, thank you Blogger for seeing me through my first three years of blogging. I feel like I’ve earned my associates degree through Blogger Community College and now I’m ready to complete my undergraduate studies at WordPress University.
I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Blogger. We’ve been through a lot together!
Don’t worry, I’ll still use and abuse you from time to time over at The Fun F@#%ing Family!
One of the first plugins I’ve installed with WordPress is ZipList. With ZipList my recipes will be formatted so they are easily printable and more accessible to my readers. You’ ll see it utilized in my next recipe post.
ZipList is a pretty great application. If you join ZipList, it’s free; you can keep all your favorite blog recipes in one place. ZipList also provides a way for the user to access grocery lists for the recipes they are saving in their recipe box. In the future I’ ll hopefully be able to provide a recipe box on Julie’s Jazz for my users to utilize that will be more interactive with ZipList.
Other WordPress widgets and plugins will emerge here on Julie’s Jazz over time and I will let you know all about them when I install them.
I have a little polishing up to do here at Julie’s Jazz. But, so far, I am loving WordPress!
In the process of my redesign, I’ve fallen behind in posting my traffic statistics. Here are my July 2013 numbers.
Not my best month, actually my worst, but I’ve been trying to get the redesign done before September. Foodgawker still looks to be my best friend and traffic buddy. Thank You, Foodgawker!
And, thanks to all of you for stopping by!!!
When you’re ready for WordPress training, give me a buzz!
