I realize that, at first glance, you would probably not guess that this blog is mostly about food. Unless explained, the blog title, “Julie’s Jazz” doesn’t really shout out “Fun and Interesting Food Blog!” My husband came up with the title. We were up late one night drinking mass quantities of alcohol and cooking dinner. We had just watched an episode of “The Next Food Network Star,” and Ben (my husband) was asking me what my particular niche would be if I were on that show. I explained to him that I get probably 99.9% of my inspiration from other people’s recipes, reading through them, many times just looking at a photograph of the end result. Then I come up with my own version of whatever. Rarely do I follow a recipe down to the last pinch of salt. He was like, “So you improvise, like Jazz music.” Except for me, my little family is very musical. Ben plays the guitar and piano, and Sam (my son) plays the piano as well. We have yet to discover what Will (my two year old) will play. My contribution, my “music”, is my food, and my name is Julie. And so, “Julie’s Jazz” was born! I realize that I do not have the corner market on this approach, but I am not claiming to be the “most original” home cook. I just enjoy it. Like I have explained before, I would someday like to self-publish a cookbook detailing my Jazzed up recipes.
I have been trying to come up with a sub-title to describe in more detail the items I will most likely discuss on this blog so that it makes more sense. Obviously food is the number one point discussed. I have also written a couple of book reviews (food related and not). I toy around with the idea of writing about my struggle with weight loss and fitness.
I really want to stay with my title “Julie’s Jazz, “I like it and I’m stuck on it. The following include some really stupid sub-titles:
Julie’s Jazz
“Home of All Things Food and Whatever else I Feel Like Discussing”
Julie’s Jazz
“All About Food and Other Stuff”
Julie’s Jazz
“Food, Fun, Fitness, and Fat”
I guess we’ll just see. Look for some sort of subtitle in the near future.
Julie’s recipes for food, fun, fitness, and all that jazz.
I Love it! Do you mind if I use it?
