We really try hard to only grocery shop once a week. Therefore, I have not been to the store since last Friday, and have consequently run out of apples. It must be the weather. It has been pretty nice outside this week. I think that this weather change has caused my family to crave more fresh fruit. While I am happy about this, because I know that fresh fruit is better for them than processed crackers and cookies, I am out of my usual option for my oatmeal.
I eat oatmeal almost every day. I usually throw in a chopped up apple. Although I did get hooked on cuties for awhile (while they were in season). Yesterday I used the last of some strawberries that I bought for my oldest son. He likes them sliced with cream and sugar, who doesn’t? Today there was nothing fresh left. So, I went digging around in the pantry. I found some dried cranberries. This turned out to be a great combination! So that got me thinking about tomorrows grocery trip.
Here are a list of items to try in my oatmeal:
-raisins (I realize putting raisins in oatmeal is far from a new idea, but I personally have not had this combination since I was little.)
-golden raisins
-dried apricots
-dried mangoes
-nuts, chips, etc…
What do you like to throw in your oatmeal?
