Our family loves pizza. The best pizza in Idaho Falls, in my family’s opinion, comes from Papa Tom’s Pizza. Granted, we do not have all that many (non-chain) choices in Idaho Falls, ID. But, I believe I have been around long enough in life to make a fairly educated decision on which pizza tastes good, and which pizza should be spit out!
For me it really comes down to sauce and crust. Papa Tom’s in Idaho Falls has the best sauce. It is rich, thick, garlicky, and a little spicy. I could seriously eat it with a spoon! Their crust is good, but not the best I have ever had. It is thin, but a little too dense for my taste. The best crust around here comes from a pizza joint in Heise Hot Springs, ID. It is thin and crisp, almost cracker-like, but then a little soft from the sauce. But that is a story for another time; I am still discussing Papa Tom’s.
Now, I do not believe that cheese makes the pizza, but the cheese Papa Tom’s uses is perfect. It must be some sort of blend because it tastes much creamier than any traditional Mozzarella. I have been meaning to ask them what it is exactly, if they will tell me, that is. We usually get their pizza take-n-bake, because it is just more convenient for us, but it is always better in the restaurant. But before I put it in the oven at home I always find myself stealing small crumbles of raw cheese off of it to try and determine the type of cheese they use. Also, it is just so good I cannot help myself!
At our house we always get the same pizzas. Ben likes Canadian bacon and pineapple, I always get pepperoni, black olive, and mushroom, and Sam always gets plain cheese. I wonder what Will will end up being fond of.
