Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites

Chocolate Chickpea Cookies-6

Two whole healthy recipes in one week!  I must be turning over a new leaf here.  This is actually the third installment of my new series on trying out other food bloggers recipes.  I didn’t mean for this recipe to super healthy, but as it turns out, it is!  I know it doesn’t look healthy which makes it all the more intriguing! You will be shocked when you check out the list of ingredients!

Only three recipes in to this new project and I’m so glad I am doing it!  All three recipes have been, knock it out of the park, HITS!  These cookie dough bites from Texanerin are no short of AMAZING!!!

Ever since I pinned a photo of these cookie dough bites I’ve been wanting to try them (even before I looked at their ingredients)!

Chocolate Chickpea Cookies-2

In these posts I’m not posting recipes because I am following the original recipes word for word ingredient by ingredient.  But, I am providing a link to the author’s original recipe in case you want to try it for yourself.  Also, all the photos on Julie’s Jazz are the photos I took of the food I made from the author’s original recipe.

In this recipe Erin (at Texanerin) leaves it up to you for the chocolate chips you want to use.  I used what I had in my cupboard (half milk chocolate chips half semi-sweet). So that was really the only “unhealthy” element of these bites.  There’s no animal fat or sugar in these otherwise!

Chocolate Chickpea Cookies-4

Ben ate five of them before I told him what was in them.  He was absolutely shocked!  I had to snap a photo of the dough so you could see that it looks identical to regular chocolate chip cookie dough.  I could eat fifty of these bites without blinking!  Although, they are not calorie free.  Texanerin gives an indication as to how many calories these bites may have but it’s really going to vary depending on the type of chocolate chips you use and the size you make them.

I have to spill the beans, literally!  The main ingredient in these peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough bites is chickpeas!  The second is all natural peanut butter (no sugar, no salt)!  Go over to Texanerin, get the recipe, and make these treats!

I’m excited I found this recipe and I’m excited to have found Texanerin!  Erin’s site is bursting with made-over (healthy) recipes! Thank you so much Texanerin!

P.S. Hey Dad, I’m pretty sure you can eat these too!  Go check out the recipe and let me know.  Mom will be in love with their texture!

OMG!!! Jule-this is Mom using Granny’s computer. We made these and I cannot say enough good about them. Your Dad loves them! Also, you have to check out this blog: chocolatecoveredkatie.com. Absolutely fantastic. We have made three different things so far and the cauliflower alfredo is now my go-to sauce for everything! So very yummy-a new take on the sauce you made. I love you and miss you and cannot wait to see you and Ben and Sam and Will!
