Since dairy products are so near and dear to the hearts of this particular family I thought I would take a moment to showcase our favorite local dairy. Reed’s Dairy in Idaho Falls,Idaho has been in business as long as I can remember, and I have lived here most of my life. They have a terrific and informative website that showcases their business much better than me, but I still wanted to give them a “shout out.”
Reed’s dairy is very close to where I grew up and on any given summertime day if you drive by their gleaming white buildings you will witness hoards of people eagerly indulging in their delectable yet simply created ice cream. I had some myself just about a week ago (on one of my cheat days).
Reed’s pretty much retails all things dairy. I remember when I was young, one of my best friend’s mothers, had their families milk delivered to their home. I recall it tasting different, “more milky,” than the grocery store milk even way back then. A Reed’s staple in my own childhood home was their cheese curds. As kids we called the Reed’s dairy cheese curds, “squeaky cheese.” I think, because they kind of made a squeaky sound when you bit into them. I still love squeaky cheese to this day! The chocolate milk at Reed’ Dairy is one of a kind. It is the thickest and most creamy chocolate milk you will ever taste. It could almost stand alone as a dessert. In fact, they sell their ice cream with their chocolate milk as a topping. The concoction is called a “Brown Cow.” As I mentioned in a previous post, Reed’s also collaborates with The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe to formulate specialty ice cream flavors for The Cocoa Bean. It is all so magical and yummy. I’ve got to go now I am getting hungry!
P.S. They actually have a milkman or milk woman that will deliver milk and other dairy products to your doorstep if you so desire!
