It’s been a long time since I posted something savory here. And I haven’t posted a savory recipe for my series about trying out other food bloggers recipes until now. I think the reason is that, compared to the amount of sweets I save or pin; I hardly ever save or pin savory foods. Maybe sugar just looks better to me in photos.
It’s finally Friday! I’m so ready for the weekend! Unfortunately it’s still slow cooker season here in southeastern Idaho. It was so windy and cold today! This recipe I found a few months ago is the perfect, cozy, Friday night meal!
On my last work day of the week all I want to do is relax. I don’t want to spend a ton of time, on my feet, cooking on a Friday night. I also hate going out Friday night because I’m tired from work and all I feel like doing is getting into something super comfortable and watching a movie. Since I don’t want to cook, or go out, a lot of times we’ll get take out. It’s never as good as something cooked at home.
Last Friday this chicken dish solved my problem! It’s one of those meals you just toss in the slow cooker and 4 to 5 hours later you are set. There are actually about 5 or 10 minutes worth of prep after you take the chicken out of the slow cooker (less time than it would take you to drive to and from Panda Express). But the magic of this dish it’s worth every second spent!
Kelly Senyei (the author of this recipe) doesn’t specify putting this chicken on noodles. She shows it all by itself on her site. I think it would be great on its own but I wanted to stretch it out a little. So I put it over noodles. I also thought about putting it on a hard roll or rice.
Besides putting the chicken over noodles I stuck to the exact “Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken” recipe on Kelly’s site. Only the photos are my own. The flavors of this chicken are warm, sweet, bold, and comforting all at the same time! The chicken literally melts in your mouth and I love that it’s sweetened with honey. I’ve really been into honey lately after sweetening those cookie dough bites with it. I also love the little kick the red pepper flakes give this chicken! You simply must try it for yourself! Try it tonight!
You can find the recipe here on Kelly Sanyei’s food blog called Just A Taste.
Your slow cooker chicken looks so appetizing: it’s literally shredded from all that slow cooking! Love it!
Thanks Julia! It was definitely yummy!
