Above is the first egg from 1 of our 6 chickens. This happened in the last week of July. Ben is positive it came from Genie. Ever since she laid it she has been laying 1 egg per day. Below is the first egg sitting with the second egg Genie laid the next day. At first she was laying them on the inside of an old tractor tire. But now two of our other chickens are also laying eggs, and they must have talked over where they should be laying. Because they are all three laying their eggs in the chicken coop, and right in the nest box to boot! Our three younger chickens have not laid any yet, but we really do not expect them to for another couple of months. I am getting a little nervous though because when they do begin to lay, and all are laying at full capacity, we should be getting about 6 eggs per day. That’s 3 and 1/2 dozen per week! Hmmm… We eat a lot of eggs but this could get ridiculous.
Right now their their eggs are really small (pullet eggs). I tried to show their size in the pictures with the stuff I use for my compelling calorie clues. I do not want you think this post had anything to do with calories though. Their eggs are slightly bigger than quail eggs. They are so unbelievably cute!
Oh, and Marie lays blue eggs. And, since they are tiny (pullet eggs), they look like robin eggs only without the speckles.
The pullet egg link will take you to a really well done and informative blog post from the Curbstone Valley Farm Blog/Website. I just found the blog/website and, so far, I love it!

I hope that you will continue to get blue eggs. This thought makes me strangely happy.
