It’s been an extremely busy past week and weekend. I usually have posts I in my back pocket, all ready to go, for my busy weeks. And I have a few, but none of them are complete.
So today I am going to share my favorite type of doughnut and one compelling calorie clue. At that, I am going to call it good. But stay tuned. This week, and in the weeks to follow, I have lots to show and tell.
Including, but not limited to:
-diet deadline (how did I fare?)
-where to go from here (diet and fitness wise)
-2nd half marathon
-family reunion & bikini run
-diet cheat day chow
-gorgeous husband’s book signing
-recent book reviews
The Bismark or Berliner. Those are just two of the names this, my favorite, type of doughnut goes by. I really do not care much about their name. I just love to eat them, and their title sometimes helps me to locate them in unfamiliar stores.
Compelling Calorie Clue:
~100 calories worth of ketchup. (1 Tbsp. = ~ 20 calories, so 5 Tbsp. = ~100 calories)
Some people might think that ketchup is a super low calorie food, like salsa, because it is tomato based. But, it is high in sugar content. For instance: 1Tbsp. of ketchup contains roughly 4g. of sugar whereas 2 Tbsp. of store bought salsa may only contain ~1g of sugar.
To put this into perspective even more: 6 regular Oreo cookies contain ~23g. of sugar. So, one regular Oreo cookie actually has less sugar in it than 1 Tbsp. of ketchup. Interesting, huh. But do not be fooled because Oreos contain more fat so their calorie content is higher (more than double the calories). But that is a different topic all together.
Just be aware that extra calories may be hiding in unexpected places.
Those are my favorite doughnuts too!!!! We should get together someday and binge 😉
Do we get book-signing photos on Sunday??
Oh Yes! And I will be posting about it before hand as well.
